I purchased private lessons for barrel racing at Black Creek Hill Farms. Brenda and Rhi have been wonderful...very flexible with my schedule....I am a full time working mom of a 3 year old and 9 month old..I grew up with horses but have not owned one in years, and I missed being around them...I enjoyed the opportunity to get back involved with horses and experiencing something I have never done before....I enjoy my time at the farm...everyone is great..and I look forward to many more days there and bringing my daughters there soon as well.

We had a wonderful experience at Black Creek Hill Farms this past Saturday. The trail ride was beautiful and with Brenda as our guide it felt like a riding lesson. She gave me the direction I needed to relax and enjoy being on the horse. It is a lovely farm, warm and friendly and very clean. Even the horses seem happy and came over to the fence as we rode by as if to say 'Isn't this a nice place". Brenda has two wonderful dogs, Cody and Reba, Australian Cattle Dogs. They came with us and it was remarkable to see them 'work' as we rode. She has a beautiful litter of puppies and once I get in a house I will be sorely tempted to get one or one from her next litter. They are very smart, loyal dog s, watch 'Dogs 101" to learn more about them! We plan to make many more visits to Black Creek Farm. We have already told friend and family it will be on the schedule for their next visits to North Carolina.

Dear Ms. Brenda Jernigan,
I went on a trail ride with Rhiannon today with her riding Sahara, and I was riding Shadow. I just had to contact you to say what a wonderful time I had! Rhiannon was knowledgeable, friendly, and fun. And Shadow (although she balked one time) was a real sweetheart, and a lot of fun to ride!!! I had more fun riding today than I have in years! I hope to come back and visit again really soon!
Thank you again for providing such a wonderful experience!
Take care,

Korey is an 8 year old twin that is on the Autism Spectrum, he was diagnosed when he was 3 years old. We have been looking for Korey’s special interest for some time; we have tried Miracle League Baseball and gymnastics. We have finally found that for him and it is therapeutic horse riding. Korey at first was very clingy. He has been riding now for about 3 months and asks me every day to go ride Rusty. This has improved Korey’s motor skills by learning how to pull reins to move Rusty one direction or another. Therapeutic horse riding has improved Korey’s self-esteem, balance, communication and his problem behaviors have lessened. Korey’s attention span has grown from about 20 minutes to 1 hour. The staff at Black Creek Hill Farms is the best and Mrs. Brenda is so patient with Korey. This has been a blessing to our family to see Korey so happy.
Thank you for everything.

I've been at Black Creek Hill farms for 3 years and Mrs. Brenda has taught me a lot. I have learned to ride English and Western. Black Creek Hill Farms is a really great place to be. There are a lot of friendly people that are more than happy for you to become a part of the family. I promise once you come you'll never want to leave. So come and join the Black Creek Hill family!

I first visited Black Creek Hill Farms 2 years ago with my 5-year-old granddaughter, who loves horses and began to take lessons. It is such a joy to see her riding and she loves Miss Brenda to death. There's no place she'd rather go. Then I rode some for the first time in 35 years and thoroughly enjoyed it. If I have a headache, just going to see the horses almost always makes it disappear. Even when it is cold, it is worth the trip. It always brightens my spirits. Horses give unconditional love as much as dogs if you'll just let them. And grooming horses and riding is good exercise, too. My best birthday yet was when all of my grandchildren came over to the barn and took turns riding on a horse and ran and played in the pasture.

22 Blind and Visually Impaired Riders Enjoy Opportunity To Ride Horses Imagine riding a horse if you cannot see, especially if you have been blind since birth and have never seen one or been near one. It takes a lot of courage to climb up on a horse and go for a ride.
On April 24th, 22 blind and visually impaired adults from the Cape Fear Region had the opportunity to experience touching, smelling, feeding, and riding horses at Black Creek Hill Farms near Benson. While the riders could not see, the sighted volunteers helping them were blinded by their enthusiastic smiles. These visually impaired riders had never thought they would have the opportunity to ride a horse, and now they were on one.
This outing was the result of teamwork between the Western Harnett Lions Club, The Vision Resource Center of the Cape Fear Region, and Black Creek Hill Farms to provide new experiences tailored to the abilities and needs of these adventurous visually impaired folks.

I went trail riding with my friends for my birthday at Black Creek Hill Farms. I instantly feel in love with the horses and the people. Everyone was very friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. I couldn’t wait to go back. Then Ms. Brenda introduced me to “Lady”. And now “Lady” is mine! Ms. Brenda is awesome at matching horse and rider. I couldn’t be happier. Ms. Brenda and Rhi have taught me soooo much about horses; from grooming to groundwork to riding. They do it all. It is the best place ever!! Come see for yourself.
